    Lovely reviews on Waterstones

Delighted to share these oh-so-lovely reviews of The Love Detective from the Waterstones website.

Reviews: The Love Detective by Angela Dyson

    “Well worth a read”

    by Jill Lewis

What a really good read with well rounded characters who grow on each page until you feel you know them. A definite page turner – you just don’t know what is going to happen next; you get lead down one way only to be lead in a completely different way just when you think you have it solved! I love a good mystery and this is one! Can’t wait for the next one – a perfect way to spend a morning, afternoon or evening!

    “Loved this book!”

    by Maria Matthews

You’ll be on Clarry’s side right from the start, she’s warm, funny, earthy and up for almost anything. Unexpected laugh out loud moments, tightly wound suspense and darker realities that won’t be ssshhhh’d or ‘no thank you’d’, all keep those pages turning – at a pace. We’re in Clarry’s world and it’s a blast, looking forward to her next adventure.

    “Loved it!”

    by Val Callaghan

Heard the author reading extracts in a Waterstones store, and loved it but it sold out that evening. Sadly my local Waterstones didn’t stock it which was disappointing. Having tracked down a copy, the novel more than lived up to my expectations. What seems initially like a fun, light-hearted private detective story, also tackles deeper issues such as human trafficking.
Angela Dyson cleverly weaves several storylines in an entertaining first novel. You think you’ve got to the end of the story and there’s another twist. Beautiful descriptions and well-developed characters. Couldn’t put it down!
Can’t wait for the next Clarry.

“Loved it, such great characters and a gripping story”

    by Claudia Watson

I really enjoyed The Love Detective, I think because it’s quite different from the norm. It made me laugh out loud at several points. The characters were really captivating. The story goes in a surprising direction that kept me on my toes and I was totally unable to put it down. Can’t wait for the next one!!

“Detective tale with a difference… loved it!”

    by Jane Ashton

My train journey to work flew by this week thanks to Clarry Pennhaligan, the feisty, witty, perceptive and utterly relatable accidental detective. This book is pacy and unpredictable, with colourful characters, scary situations that got my heart racing, hilarious observations which had me chortling out loud (apologies, fellow commuters), whilst tackling all too plausible crime, corruption and social issues. Highly recommended!

“Best New Author I’ve read this year”

    by Michelle Anthony

I thought I was buying a middle of the road chick lit book to pass the time on holiday. How wrong I was – the Love Detective is the best book I have read in years. Witty, gripping and full of surprises The Love Detective cleverly blends the detective and chick lit genre, making it difficult to put down ( I read it I. A day). But most of all I fell in love with some of the main characters, Clarry is the heroine I have been waiting for a normal sized heroine who isn’t working in her dream job but struggling to find her place . But my favourite by far was the marvellous Flan! The woman I would love to be in my twilight years. I can’t wait until the 2nd book in this series hits the shelves.

    “Original And Compelling Page Turner”

    by Claire Michell

Loved this book and excited to learn that it is the first in a series! I really loved the lead character, Clarry. She is feisty and funny and not ridiculously beautiful or skinny, she felt like a good friend from the first page (and she reminded me of one of my friends!)

Clarry’s best friend, Laura, asks her to find out more about her new boyfriend which leads to a really clever, and sometimes scary thriller. But what is so unusual is the humour in this novel. Clarry has a family friend called Flan who is in her 70s and very classy and really funny. Flan helps Clarry in some of her detective work, I think those were my favourite bits of the book. I strongly recommend this novel to, particularly women of all ages.

I’d just like to say thank you so so much to everyone who has taken the time to read and review The Love Detective. Reviews are so important for a budding author so every one counts! If you would like to leave your own, it would be wonderful if you could over on Amazon here.

Many thanks in advance, Ange xXx
